Only authorized users run scripts that make changes
Octotor runs scripts to manage your computers and network devices. Scripts are powerful, so Octotor controls who can run which ones.
Get scripts and set scripts
Get scripts collect information, such as free disk space. Set scripts make changes, such as restarting a computer.
Protect the set scripts
Set scripts can be marked medium or high risk. Then they ask for an action password before they run.
For example
Edi and Dave can both check free disk space. Restarting a computer is medium risk. Edi has the medium password, Dave doesn't, so only Edi can restart it.
Four layers of protection
- Toolkit folders give each user role only the scripts its job position needs.
- Action passwords add a second protection layer for set scripts.
- The prompt is a reminder that a script is about to make a change.
- Even a stolen login can't run protected scripts: action passwords prevent it.
Try it yourself
The live demo needs no account. Open the Toolkit to see each script's risk level, or follow a guided tour on fictional data.
